Follow a winning regimen for interview preparation

Time spent preparing for a job interview is time well-spent! Your efforts will boost your confidence and your chance of success in securing a job offer.  

Here are 8 tips for preparing to ace your next interview:

1. Research the company by visiting the website, social media accounts and searching for news articles.
2. Research the person you will be meeting with on LinkedIn and the company website.
3. Spend time thinking about and preparing to discuss specific accomplishments, achievements and contributions you have made in a work setting. 
4. Think about which of your skills and traits will be most beneficial to the company and prepare to give examples of how you have used them for success in the past. 
5. Review common interview questions, including behavioral questions, and practice crafting your answers in the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) format. 
6. Prepare at least two or three questions to ask about the company and position. Write your questions down in a notebook and take it with you to the interview along with copies of your resume.
7. Plan and prepare your outfit. Dress for success in clothing that is professional, comfortable and aligned with the company’s dress code. Remember - it’s better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed. Check out our tips on choosing what to wear a job interview.
8. For an on-site interview, plan travel arrangements and prepare to arrive 10-15 minutes early.
