Dollar Bank Charity Campaign Raises $15,000 for Local Food-Focused Nonprofits
From November 2024 to February 2025, customers helped Dollar Bank give back in a meaningful way, simply by managing their finances. The annual initiative is in its fourth year, with Dollar Bank donating funds for every qualified customer transaction made through Zelle®, Online Bill Pay or My Cards to organizations dedicated to fighting hunger. At the campaign's end, $15,000 was raised to directly benefit these charities:
412 Food Rescue, an organization that seeks to bridge the gap between food waste and those who face food insecurity, was selected as the beneficiary for Pennsylvania customer transactions. Alyssa Cholodofsky, Chief Executive Officer of 412 Food Rescue, said the funds raised will address two of their biggest challenges.
“At 412 Food Rescue, we believe in the power of collaboration to address challenges. Dollar Bank’s Charity Campaign not only raises essential funds to support our mission but also brings our community together to create meaningful change,” Cholodofsky said. “Every dollar donated helps us redirect fresh, surplus food to neighbors who need it most, ensuring that good food stays out of landfills and on plates instead. We are so grateful to Dollar Bank and its customers for their generosity and commitment to building stronger communities.”
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank, with a mission to bridge the meal gap by connecting individuals with the nutritious meals they need to succeed, was the Cleveland beneficiary. Kristin Warzocha, President and CEO, said the funds will ensure difficult decisions will not have to be made for those in need.
“The Greater Cleveland Food Bank is thankful for Dollar Bank’s support and for choosing the Food Bank to be the recipient of the proceeds from its charity campaign,” said Warzocha. “Dollar Bank is a trusted partner in our fight against hunger here in Northeast Ohio. This donation will provide thousands of nutritious meals to our hungry neighbors and help ensure they do not have to make the difficult choice between choosing food or paying for utilities, rent or medicine.”
The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore President and CEO Christopher Tan said the campaign allows them to have an even larger impact in their community.
“We are deeply honored to partner with Dollar Bank. For every transaction made during this initiative, two meals will be provided to individuals facing food insecurity,” Tan said. “These meals will benefit children who rely on school meals as their primary source of nutrition during the week, ensuring they have access to food over the weekend. They will also support seniors who face isolation and limited access to food resources, enabling them to prepare healthy meals. Additionally, this initiative will help individuals who struggle to afford nutritious produce and lean proteins, improving their access to food that promotes better health, productivity, and well-being. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dollar Bank for recognizing the profound impact that every dollar can have on the lives of those in need.”
Dollar Bank is incredibly grateful for our customer support in this fundraising effort. The $15,000 raised during the campaign demonstrates the power of community-driven giving. Additionally, we thank our community partners that work tirelessly to provide meals, resources and access for those in need. Together, we turned everyday banking into a force for good.
About 412 Food Rescue
412 Food Rescue was created to bridge the gap between the staggering reality that nearly 40% of all food produced in the U.S. is wasted and the fact that one in eight people face food insecurity. By leveraging civic engagement and innovative technology, 412 Food Rescue redirects fresh, surplus food to nonprofit partners, keeping it out of landfills and in the hands of those who need it most. Since its founding, the organization has rescued over 34 million pounds of food, preventing 68 million pounds of CO2 emissions and setting a national standard for food recovery. Together with its network of partners and volunteers, 412 Food Rescue is building a sustainable, inclusive food system that benefits both people and the planet.
