Cleveland: Dollar Bank Celebrates 26 Years of Empowering Homebuyers with Free Homeowner Workshop
Dollar Bank’s annual homebuying workshop returns for its 26th year to empower first-time homebuyers with the knowledge and resources they need to achieve their dreams of homeownership. Scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University, this year’s workshop continues the Bank’s longstanding commitment to building communities and creating opportunities for financial growth.
This free program, which began as a workshop for single mothers in 1999, has hosted over 5,000 attendees and covers everything from understanding mortgage options, improving credit scores and budgeting exercises to navigating the home buying process with confidence.
“Taking the first step toward homeownership is often the hardest part,” said Dorothy Curtis, Vice President of Community Development at Dollar Bank. “That initial leap can be intimidating, but we’re here to make it easier. Our workshop provides attendees with the tools and knowledge they need to move forward with confidence. We consider ourselves partners in the process, and we’ve helped countless individuals of all ages break rent cycles, overcome financial obstacles and become first generation homeowners.”
The Way Home is just one part of Dollar Bank's comprehensive effort to help would-be borrowers with credit-building needs. Attendees will be encouraged to continue working with Dollar Bank counselors beyond attending the workshop. Dorothy Curtis and her team work closely with participants of the Homeownership Program. “We understand that the journey to homeownership is unique to the individual and we’re here to help,” said Ameisha Boykin, Assistant Vice President of Community Development at Dollar Bank. “Our workshop and program are designed to demystify the process and empower you to make informed decisions every step of the way.”
Curtis added, “Individuals gain access to a world of information and resources, including our educational classes, private credit restoration counseling sessions, special savings programs, down payment assistance and other informational group sessions.”
